Job Posting 24-094 100% Permanent Business Analyst Location: Central Office Start Date: ASAP 34.5 hours per week Scheduled: Mon-Thurs 8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m.; Fri 8:30 a.m. -4:00 p.m. Grade 5: Step 1 $ 65,470 Step 5 $ 81,837 SUMMARY: Reporting to the Senior Manager of IT Services, the Business Analyst supports the school board's business departments including Finance, IT, and Program departments. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic team whose responsibility is supporting the use of enterprise business applications, facilitating business analysis, process definition and documentation. You will work with key users to understand current processes and requirements, identifying areas that have opportunity to be improved and/or streamlined, and designing system solutions. The position is responsible for system identification, development, implementation, integration, and training. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Partner with stakeholders to understand their business processes, prioritize information needs and translate business requirements into system solutions. Document As-is business processes, and requirements for the Board's Student Information System. Support ad-hoc tasks and various business projects using tools to improve processes and increase productivity and efficiency. In collaboration with Corporate Services, implement systems and conduct end user training. Improve data gathering and presentation processes, automating whenever possible. Perform data analysis to test accuracy and determine reporting requirements. Support the verification and validation of enrolment data. Support improvements in reporting accuracy, timeliness, and insightfulness Coordinate enrolment audit initiatives. Process support tickets for SIS, assisting end users with process/systems issues. Responsible for various types of documentation including business requirements, process mapping and training materials. Support budgeting, government reporting, variance analysis and reconciliation REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma in a related business or administrative field or equivalent experience Experience in PowerSchool and an understanding of the Ministry funding model is preferred. Experience in identifying and analyzing business systems issues and determining root cause. Excellent computer and technical skills including the use of excel for data analysis. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a business environment with a focus on process improvement and analysis of data Experience in core business systems including, but not limited to procurement, accounting, and capital systems. Experience in supporting system implementations and upgrades, including configuration and testing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience in collecting, analyzing and documenting users' business requirements and developing functional specifications, user documentation, testing criteria, etc. Experience in data warehouse and business intelligence environments is an asset. Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment. Detail oriented and analytical with strong problem solving skills. Proven ability to work independently as well as function effectively within a team. The successful candidate should have experience with data extraction, analysis, and reporting, as well as a proven track record of success in balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
