Reporting to a Section Head or an excluded manager, the Senior Licenced Authorizations Officer provides specialist services to the Natural Resource Sector in evaluating resource applications, conducting applied research, and leading or participating in complex projects. This position may supervise professional and technical staff. The Senior Licensed Authorizations Specialist is also responsible for Timber Pricing program areas.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Forester with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC).
  • Experience in negotiating and consulting with stakeholders in natural resource management.
  • Minimum 3 years experience (field/office) working in resource management.
  • Experience supervising, leading coaching and mentoring staff.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following

  • Experience in supervising, leading, coaching and mentoring staff
  • Three (3) years or more experience in forest revenue, appraisals, scaling, waste, cruising or other functions related to forest management.
  • Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with stakeholders in natural resource management.

About this Position:

There is one (1) permanent position available. An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.

This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Forest offices: Prince George, Dawson Creek, Fort St John, Fort Nelson

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
