STATUS: Ten Month,0.5 to 0.7 FTE, Probationary

Calgary French & International School (CFIS) is a full French language immersion co-educational independent school, serving over 750 students from junior preschool through to Grade 12. Job Description:

CFIS is seeking an Academic Guidance Counsellor in our secondary division (grades 9 to 12) for the 2024-2025 school year. The Academic Guidance Counsellor will facilitate students' high school course selection and post-secondary planning by helping them map out their educational goals. As part of the role, the candidate will also oversee the coordination of dual credit courses and will teach Calm 10.

There is a possibility that this role may be combined with additional teaching assignments. Subject areas and FTE to be determined and discussed with the successful candidate.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

· Counsel high school students regarding course and program selection, timetables, and scheduling.

· Counsel students regarding career exploration and post-secondary planning.

· Consult with parents and provide ongoing communication when appropriate.

· Coordinate and participate in student orientation programs in colleges or universities.

· Provide assistance with high school course selection in preparation for post-secondary applications.

· Liaise with admission officers at post-secondary institutions.

· Host information evenings for post-secondary schooling.

· Collaborate with IB Diploma Coordinator and Secondary Leadership to host various information sessions.

· Present scholarship opportunities to students and lead an internal selection committee.

· Prepare materials such as transcripts and letters of recommendation.

· Coordinate Dual Credit courses with partnering colleges and universities.

· Coach students taking dual credit courses on planning, time management, and on-line learning strategies.

Qualifications :

· Master of Education (preferred) or Bachelor of Education.

· Eligible for or in possession of an Alberta Permanent or Interim Teaching Certificate.

· Bilingual (French and English).

· Valid first-aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

· Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme is desirable.

The successful candidate will need to provide an updated Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work.

Salary:

As per the CFIS Teaching salary grid.
