Reports to: VP, Human Resources and Talent

Purpose of the Role:
The Director, Talent and Engagement position is a critical leadership position that is accountable for providing strategic direction and designing and leading an integrated talent and engagement strategy including talent, succession, performance, leadership, learning, employee engagement and culture that supports and accelerates LifeLabs’ business transformation plan and strategic plan. For optimum success in this role, business acumen, a strategic mindset, well-honed execution skills, strong collaboration and a passion for developing talent will be essential.

The role will report into the VP, Human Resources on talent, learning and development, with a dotted line to the VP, Culture, Communications and Engagement for the culture and engagement portfolio.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop and lead an integrated talent strategy that delivers against LifeLabs’ talent needs now and for the future and supports the acceleration of LifeLabs’ transformation.
  • Create and execute best-in-class talent strategies and programs in the areas of talent review, succession and workforce planning, performance management, leadership development and employee learning and development that build bench strength, enhance leadership capability and increase our ability to attract and retain top talent.
  • Collaborate with HR and business leaders to ensure leadership development programs/ experiences are aligned with the broader HR strategy, regulatory requirements, and business priorities.
  • Create and execute best-in-class engagement and culture strategies and initiatives aligning to the organization’s strategic plan, vision, purpose and values.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to support leaders in building robust talent, engagement and leadership development programs.
  • Develop organization-wide learning strategy and governance. Partner with the HR Technology leader to develop a learning technology plan integrated with the overall HR Technology Roadmap.
  • Drive the design and development of learning curriculum, programs and experiences and/or exploration of external partners, subject matter experts and available solutions.
  • Implement and deliver on the continuous listening program, including the employee engagement surveys (annual eNPS and pulse surveys).
  • Deliver on a recognition program that aligns with the overall culture and engagement strategy.
  • Champion new ways of working and engage and optimize for different talent segments through a digital mindset.
  • Partner closely with our LifeLabs Diversity, Equity and Inclusion leader to ensure DEI is embedded in all leadership, learning and talent program development.
  • Lead, develop, coach and engage a team of talent, performance, culture, engagement and learning professionals.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Behaviour or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience working within an HR function, leading the development of talent strategy and implementing talent reviews, succession planning, performance management, leadership development and learning and development.
  • In-depth knowledge of current talent, leadership, performance and learning practices.
  • Proven ability to understand business needs and translate to effective and impactful talent and development programming to support company transformation, including enhancement of leadership competencies.
  • End to end experience leading a development program from ideation to requirements identification, business case development, budgeting, content development, vendor selection, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability as a collaborative and trusted partner to help drive the talent, culture and engagement agenda.
  • Excellent facilitation skills and experience with training delivery.
  • Exceptional senior stakeholder management skills and an ability to build and maintain a strong network with colleagues, sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Well-developed prioritization, time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience leading, engaging and developing a team.
  • Experience developing and executing product strategies and go-to-market activities.
  • Experience with developing product operations frameworks, dashboards, and processes
  • Evidence of effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of design thinking and product lifecycle management methodologies.
  • Strong track record of collaboration.
  • Experience developing business cases.
  • Proven and self-motivated performer who can manage multiple and evolving business priorities.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in critical thinking and problem solving.

This is a hybrid role.

Hiring Range: 126,600 - 161,400

The hiring range has been established, however, the final salary recommendation will be determined based off the level of experience, education requirement, external market conditions and internal equity.

In this position, you will be eligible for Lifelabs annual bonus.
