Salary: $58,881.00 - $111,274.00 + current provincial recruitment and retention allowance

ELEMENTARY TEACHER (multi-grade classroom)

THE DISTRICT:

Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut’en and Wet’suweten peoples. The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle. This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in the beautiful north central BC.

We serve 3,000 students in our standard schools and approximately 1200 FTE at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia. Our region has affordable housing, welcoming communities and a lower cost of living than many other regions. THE SCHOOL:

Babine Elementary-Secondary School is a K-12 school located in the village of Granisle on the shores of Babine Lake, BC’s largest natural lake. BESS enrolls 38 students who work with 8 dedicated staff and a full time Principal. The school is a hub for the community of Granisle and surrounding area and feature a full commercial kitchen and Applied Skills room and updated computer technology.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Education (Elementary).

A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership with The Ministry of Education and Childcare.

Ability to assist students as needed in a variety of curriculum areas at the elementary grade levels.

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiences in a multi-grade configuration.

Demonstrated ability to use inclusive instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working from an inclusion perspective to address diverse learning needs.

Understand and use a trauma-informed approach in professional practice.

Experience and knowledge using competency-based assessment strategies.

Experience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student.

Experience in integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices to improve learning outcomes for students.
