The Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and liver transplant surgery team at Vancouver General Hospital is ready to welcome three Full time Associate Physicians to join our HPB program.

As Associate Physician in Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and Liver Transplant Surgery [with Vancouver Coastal Health], you will:

  • Assess and manage of both preoperative and post-operative HPB surgical patients as well as provide surgical assistance in HPB and other liver and pancreas related operations being performed by HPB surgeons at VGH, under the direct supervision of the attending HPB surgeon.
  • Provide initial consultations (with oversight by the attending HPB surgeon) for HPB patients in the VGH emergency room and the inpatient population, participate in discharge planning and other activities working closely with the HPB team to increase capacity and service delivery.
Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist, verified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC).
  • Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs) and Education, Training and Experience Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
  • Proficiency in the English language as established by the CPSBC and eligibility for registration with the CPSBC in the Associate Physician class, under sponsorship by VCH.
  • Valid Canadian Citizenship, be a permanent resident or be legally able to live and work in British Columbia.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification during the three-month training and orientation period.
