High School Math/Science Teacher
ASCEND Online is an online school operated by the Catholic Independent Schools of the Kamloops Diocese. The school enrolls approximately 475 students from Kindergarten to Grade Twelve supported by instructors and support staff from across the province of British Columbia. ASCEND Online is seeking a BC certified teacher as a part-time High School Math/Science Teacher effective as soon as possible. Courses may include: Math and Science 10 courses, Life Science 11, Anatomy and Physiology 12, and Chemistry 12.
This position is an independent contractor position. Among other obligations, the independent contractor must review and adapt course content based on students’ learning needs, assess students’ learning, facilitate course delivery using a variety of methods (online, Zoom, videos, CANVAS, etc.), meet regularly with school-based teams via Zoom, and provide their own technology equipment.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess:
• Active membership in a Catholic parish
• Commitment to excellence in Catholic education
• The ability to be flexible when faced with the ever-shifting needs of today’s education system
• A genuine sense of joy in regard to teaching and learning
• A commitment to relationship-based learning
• Experience planning and implementing educational programs for students in an online format
• Familiarity with BC Curriculum
• The ability to adapt learning opportunities to meet the needs of students
