The Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association is seeking a full-time General Accountant. We are a medical practice of 15 specialty divisions that work in an interdisciplinary environment within Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.  We have 150 physicians; 95 administrative and 4 accounting staff.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The General Accountant will join the finance team to provide full cycle accounting services to the practice plan and physicians.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Bank, sub-ledger & account reconciliations
  • Journal Entries
  • Process Accounts Payable invoices & payments
  • Process Sales Invoices, Accounts Receivable collections, apply payments.
  • Bank deposit & cash application  
  • Period & year-end closing
  • Prepare audit support and work papers
  • Cross train with other team members

 

Qualifications

  • Accounting Diploma/Degree.
  • Enrollment in CPA program an asset.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years working with full cycle accounting in payables, receivables, reconciliations
  • Mid-sized  business environment with multiple entities
  • Mid-tier accounting applications:  **Dynamics Business Central 365 or  Navision, Great Plains Dynamics, Sage, QuickBooks
  • Payroll software: PayWorks, Ceridian, ADP

 

Demonstrated Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel (*particularly pivot tables & lookup), Zoom/TEAMS
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; attention to detail; capacity to prioritize by assessing situations to determine urgency
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills; able to interact well with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Able to multi-task; handle transactions of multiple entities; work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Able to take initiative; work independently and balance multiple work demands, including time sensitive requests; use sound judgment as well as accepting direction
  • Positive team player who is able to problem solve & is flexible to change.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to and work well with a diverse group of individuals
  • Tact and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential issues; maintain strict confidentiality
  • Customer service orientated

 

Remuneration:          $55,000-$65,000
