Viking Community Health Centre is looking to welcome a new Home Care Aide to its Home Care Team supporting Viking and community. As a Home Care Aide and team member, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide direct client centered care. Within the Home Care Interdisciplinary Team, the Home Care Aide is responsible for providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living within the client’s authorized plan of care. Flexibility is required as this is shiftwork. This position is based out of Viking Home Care. Viking is located approximately 136 km southeast of Edmonton, Alberta. You can live rurally, but also get the benefit of living within 1 hour and half from the capital city. There is much to see and do in Viking. As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) through the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Driving in all weather conditions. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position: This position requires frequent physical demands including walking, bending, lifting, and standing and driving for long periods of time. Transferring patients of varying sizes and degrees of mobility. Transporting supplies and equipment. CCHSS standards and AHS qualifications is mandatory and documentation that such education requirements are being met must be submitted on a regular basis. Basic computer skills with Windows operating system including Outlook and MS Teams. Please note: the successful candidate requires utmost flexibility as this is a shift work position and scheduling may require day and evening shift work.

Minimum 1 year experience within the last 5 years in the Home Care environment. Medication Assistance Certification and experience. Connect Care training/experience.
